In a patrol group, the position at the head of the troop is called the point. The job of the man at the point is to make use of his full senses to detect any enemy threats. The point looks for mines, trip wires, booby traps, etc. He is also always watching for out-of -the-ordinary circumstances. The position of point requires much vigilance.
The scriptures describe the Christian life as one of warfare. It is characterized by conflicts between the redeemed man and the old man. As sanctification occurs the old man is gradually suppressed. Full sanctification is glorification. Vigilance is essential to win the fight.
